Answer to Question #243400 in Computer Networks for Nhlex

Question #243400

A user’s laptop is shutting down unexpectedly. As a Network Technician, you discovered the “shutdowns” only happen when the laptop is moved from one room to another. You “reseat” the hard drive, memory, battery, and LCD cable, but the laptop continues to shut down. Explain what could be the cause of this issue, and how would you resolve it.

The most informed guess could be that the battery connection might be loose such that time every time it moves it loosens and not firm enough and with time it shuts down. The laptop could also be overheating or it could that the power management option has been activated by mistake.

I would recommend substituting with another battery just to check if its battery issues, if it's overheating then I would check the fans and clean the inside components carefully and also checking and changing the power management options that might be shutting down the laptop randomly.
