There exist different networking software and hardware vendors. Networking products from one vendor need to work together with products with another vendor. IN order to achieve this standard organizations such as ISO, IEEE, TIA and others need to provide an abstract framework in which all these vendors can ensure interoperability between devices. These open standards ensure that these software and hardware products can work together.
