Explain why international migration has become an important issue in public policy
making in South Africa.
International migration has been on the rise in South Africa which has caused havoc in the nation. It has thus become an important issue that needs to be addressed in public policy. This is due to the effects that it has caused such as; increased stress on housing, political and social tension, increased costs, overcrowding, the transmission of disease, and marginalization of migrants into the low status and low paid jobs.
On the positive side, it has been a source of national wealth and therefore becoming a major concern in policy-making for example For Lesotho migrants in South Africa remittances are a major source of national wealth.
