The post Independent India has seen the world's largest democratic state in the world establish over 200 political parties. Unlike America where two major parties of Republican and Democrats, or the United Kingdom with Labor Party and Conservative as major parties, India has over 200 political parties. Consequently, India has parties but no party system since to win elections, major party coalitions have to be formed and coalition pacts have to be signed.
