Suppose there is a wave function,

Say ψ(x)\psi (x)

This wavefunction said to symmetric only if

ψ(x)=ψ(x)\psi(-x) =\psi(x)

And said to be antisymmetric only if

ψ(x)=ψ(x)\psi(-x) =-\psi(x)
