In Quantum mechanics probability density tells to finding a particle in a given particular range.

Probability density or referred as position probability density in all over space is given by following notation

$P={\int_{all \space}\psi^*\psi d\tau}$

$P={\int_{all \space}|\psi |^2d\tau}=1$

Now consider we are going to find particle in range in range a to b then probability density can be expressed as

$P=\frac{\int^a_b\psi^*\psi d\tau}{\int_{all \space}\psi^*\psi d\tau}$
