The time-independent Schrödinger equation

H^ψ=Eψ{\hat H}\psi=E\psi

where H^{\hat H} is a Hamiltonian. It is hermitian operator

H^=H^\hat H^{\dag}=\hat H

Hence

(H^ψ)=(Eψ)({\hat H}\psi)^*=(E\psi)^*

H^ψ=Eψ{\hat H}\psi^*=E\psi^*

Therefore, the linear combination

Ψ=ψ+ψ\Psi=\psi+\psi^*

is also solution of the time-independent Schrödinger equation.
