A mercury thermometer is constructed as shown above. The glass capillary tube has a diameter of 0.005cm, and the bulb has a diameter of 0.26cm. Find the change in height of the mercury column that occurs with a temperature change of 50 Celsius. State answer in mm to the nearest mm.
Hint: to simply the problem, assume that the dimensions of the capillary tube will not change(so assume that only the bulb experiences temperature change)
Linear expansion coefficient of glass is 3.6 * 10^-6(celcius)^-1
Volume expansion coefficient of mercury is 182*10^-6(Celsius)^-1
