The equations of motion of the cars

d1=vt,d2=at2/2d_1=vt,\:\quad d_2=at^2/2

We get

d1=d2d_1=d_2

vt=at2/2vt=at^2/2

t=2v/at=2v/a

t=245.0/3.00=30st=2*45.0/3.00=30\:\rm s
