(a) Magnitude of the resistance

F=mΔvΔt=40100.2=4000NF=m\frac{\Delta v}{\Delta t}=40*\frac{10}{0.2}=4000\:\rm N

(b) Distance moved by the bullet


d=vf+vi2t=1020.2=1md=\frac{v_f+v_i}{2}t=\frac{10}{2}*0.2=1\:\rm m
