An iceberg is a chunk of freshwater ice that has broken off from an ice cap,
such as those that cover Greenland and Antarctica, or from a glacier at the
edge of the sea. (More than three-quarters of the world’s fresh water is in the
form of ice). Find the proportion of the volume of an iceberg that is
submerged. Note: use the corresponding densities for ice and water
Lets say V is the total volume of the iceberg, and x be the volume of submerged part of iceberg. then according to Archimedes principle, we have weight of the iceberg is equal to the weight of the water displaced
so, the proportion of the volume of an iceberg that is
submerged 0.8932.
