Answer to Question #182933 in Physics for Andu

Question #182933

10. A sphere with mass 3 kg compresses with 5 cm spring with coefficient of elasticity k = 1200 N / m. Once the spring is released, the sphere moves without friction in the plane OA and then climbs to the sloping plane AB. What will be the height h of the ascent of the sphere in the inclined plane? (g = 10 m / s *).

The potential energy of the spring will be converted into the kinetic energy of the sphere. Then this kinetic energy will be spent to move up the incline, so, we can equate the spring's energy to the gravitational potential energy:

"\\frac12kx^2=mgh,\\\\\\space\\\\\nh=\\frac{kx^2}{2mg}=0.05\\text{ m}."
