Answer to Question #182262 in Physics for King

Question #182262

1. Three point charges are held in place as shown in the figure. Find the net electrostatic force

experienced by the 1 nC charge.

2. What should be the mass of a 5 nC charge be so that it is balanced in the space between

two parallel plates carrying equal and opposite charges of σ = 8.1 x 10-4 C/m2

3. An electric dipole consisting of charges +2e and -2e are separated by a distance of 4nm.

a. What is the electric dipole moment?

b. What is the electric field at a point P located on the perpendicular bisector (shown

in the fig) and at a distance 3 cm from the axis of the dipole?

 c. This dipole is placed in a uniform electric field E of magnitude 1000 N/ C and

making an angle of 30 degrees with the dipole moment. Calculate the torque

produced and the electrostatic potential energy of the dipole.
