A series of composite wall of a furnace consists of 20cm of firebrick, 15cm of a

high temperature insulating material, 12 cm of ordinary brick, and lastly, 8mm of

asbestos cement board. The inside of the furnace wall is 100C. Determine the heat

transfer through the wall per m2.

Firebrick

k=1.4W/m-K

High temperature insulation k = 0.22 W/m-K

Ordinary brick

k = 0.90 W/m-K

Asbestos

k = 0.39 W/m-K
