The health and safety risks, side effects, and limitations of non-ionising and ionising radiation technologies: risk of cancer, radiation poisoning, low efficiency at work, depression. The first two risks are mostly associated with ionising technologies only, the other two relate to both types of technologies.

The impact of ionising radiation technologies depends on the treatment that the patient receives. In case of long and difficult treatment by ionising radiation technologies, the patient receives a more serious dose of radiation than the operator. In the case of non-ionising ones the operator, as a rule, receives a greater dose. In case patients only receive ordinary scanning or diagnostics with ionising technologies, they receive a less severe dose of radiation than the operators.
