Answer to Question #168416 in Physics for Mustafa

Question #168416

Two blocks are placed on a plank. The plank is then lifted and held such that it hinges as seen in the diagram. The friction between the blocks and the plank is such that neither block slides on the incline. The mass,m1, of block 1 is greater than the mass, m2, of block 2. The mass of the plank, M, id greater than block 1.Block 1 is now moved to the right side of block 2 such that it’s L/4 from the right end of the plank. Indicate whether the magnitude of the force necessary to lift the plank, F, is larger, smaller, or the same as in the original, explain why.

It is smaller than  in the original because the weight of block will be the same, but the distance would be smaller, then the its moment will be smaller.
