The rate of diffusion D of gases through metals is subjected to the following equation:

D=kdeb/TPT,D=\frac{k}{d}e^{-b/T}\sqrt{PT},

where P - gas pressure,

T - the temperature,

d - thickness of metal,

b - a constant for the gas-metal system,

k - a coefficient.

This equation is called Richardson's equation.
