Answer on Question #60465, Physics / Optics

How is image formed on the retina of human eye processed by human brain? Discuss.

Solution:

Light rays enter to the eye. They refracted in the cornea, iris, lens, vitreous body. The lens is a transparent, biconvex structure in the eye that, along with the cornea, helps to refract light to be focused on the retina. In humans, the refractive power of the lens in its natural environment is approximately 18 dioptres, roughly one-third of the eye's total power. The lens of the eye acts as a collecting lens. The image which formed on the retina is a real, reduced, rotated with respect to the object.

Light rays irritate the nerve endings in the retina. These signals are transmitted to the brain. Brain corrects the vision process. Therefore, we perceive the objects straight.
