Question #294171

A beam of light goes from one material into another. On physical grounds, explain why the wavelength changes but the frequency and period do not

Expert's answer

Solution

Wavelength depends on refractive index.

When light enters from one medium to other, there is a change in refractive index. So, wavelength changes.

But frequecy and time period do not depend on medium so these doesn't change.
