given that,

Dn(air)=1.4cm,Dn(liquid)=1.27cmD_{n} (air) = 1.4 cm, D_{n} (liquid) = 1.27 cm

we can find the refractive index by using this formula also,

μ=Dn2(air)Dn2(liquid)\mu=\frac{D_{n}^2(air)}{D_{n}^2(liquid)}

=(1.4)2(1.27)2=\frac{(1.4)^2}{(1.27)^2}

=1.215=1.215
