Answer:-

Write the properties of cornea and lens from Table 15.1 “Parameters for the eye”.

Refractive index of cornea,  n(c)=1.38n(c)=1.38

Radius of curvature of lens,  R=8 mmR=8 \ mm

Calculate the refractive power of the cornea when it is in contact with water.

P=(n(c)n(w)R)P=(\frac{n(c)-n(w)}{R})

Here , n(w)n(w)  is the refractive index of water, and  is the radius of curvature of crystalline lens.

Substitute 1.38 for n(c) , 1.33 for n(w) , and 0.008 m for R.

P=(1.381.330.008 m)P=(\frac{1.38-1.33}{0.008 \ m})

P=6.25 Diopters\boxed{P=6.25 \ Diopters}
