Write the properties of cornea and lens from Table 15.1 “Parameters for the eye”.

Refractive index of cornea,  "n(c)=1.38"

Radius of curvature of lens,  "R=8 \\ mm"

Calculate the refractive power of the cornea when it is in contact with water.

"P=(\\frac{n(c)-n(w)}{R})"

Here , "n(w)"  is the refractive index of water, and  is the radius of curvature of crystalline lens.

Substitute 1.38 for n(c) , 1.33 for n(w) , and 0.008 m for R.

"P=(\\frac{1.38-1.33}{0.008 \\ m})"

"\\boxed{P=6.25 \\ Diopters}"
