Question #163106

Suppose all 6 equal-length strings of an acoustic guitar are played without fingering, that is, without being pressed down on any frets. What quantities are the same for all six strings? choose all correct answers

a) The fundamental  frequency of each note is different (notes E, B, G, D, A, E).

b) Correct answer. The wavelengh depends only on the length of string and boundary conditions, which are the same for all 6 strings.

c) The fundamental wavelength of the sound emitted correspones to the fundamental notes as is also differ from string to string.

d) The speed of wave in the string depends on its linear mass density and the tension in it. Since all 6 strings are different, the speed of wave will differ as well.
