solid, liquid and gas all have the same chemical properties, but their physical properties are considerably different. In general covalent bond determine: molecular shape, bond energies, chemical properties, while intermolecular force (non-covalent bonds) influence the physical properties of liquids and solids.
Solids have the higher amount of force between their molecules than liquids or gases. Solids have higher strength than liquids. But liquids have the higher amount of foce between molecules than gases.
Relation of temperature with molecules of solid ,liquid and gas:
The molecules of solid have the higher bonding among each other. So, as the temperature increases the molecules start to vibrate and the kinetic energy of molecules increase and the expansion in size of solid occurs.
Gases expand when heated because the force between molecules get loose and contract when cooled.Because as the temperature falls the molecular energy of molecules get lower so they start to contract in medium.
Liquids expand when heated because the force between molecules get loose and they contract when cooled because the intermolecular force become high
