Given:

Total height of object from ground

= 1m + 0.5mm"\\approx" 1m

(As 0.5 mm is very very less as comparison to 1 m thus we can neglect 0.5 mm.


Now,


Potential energy is energy stored in an object. This energy has the potential to do work.


Gravity gives potential energy to an object. This potential energy is a result of gravity pulling downwards.


We have gravitational acceleration constant g= 10 ms-2


Thus,

PE=mgh

=0.75×10×1

= 7.5 Joules.


..and if we do not neglect .5 mm then PE will be.


7.5J + (0.5×10-3 ×10×0.75)


=7.5+.00375

=7.50375 Joules
