Answer to Question #120806 in Molecular Physics | Thermodynamics for davida

Question #120806
A mole of gas has a volume of 10 m3 and a temperature of 300 K. At condition when pressure and temperature are constant, work has been done to compress the gas so that the volume is 5 m3. calculate the temperature and pressure of the gas at the end of the process.

first let's calculate the initial pressure by PV=nRT

"P\\times10=1\\times8.3\\times300\\\\P=2490\\ pascals"

Temperature being constant here which means we can apply boyle's law

PV= constant

"P_1V_1=P_2V_2\\\\"

"2490\\times10=P_2\\times5\\\\P_2=1245\\ pascals"
