From the velocity diagram one can suggest that hypotenuse is the velocity of cyclist. See east and south direction are perpendicular to each other. Mean right triangle is well adopted.

Thus, the velocity of cyclist is

S2=V2+U2

S2=102+102

S=10√2 m/s

the cyclist is directed to the direction of north-east.
