a speed of 10 m/s from the end of the hose of
cross sectional area 5 cm2, situated 4 m above
the level from which the water is drawn. Find the
rate at which the pump is working.

For incompressible fluid the continuity equation says ρvS=const, and for water vS=const which means that volumetric flow rate is constant for each for any section of the flow.
Q=vS=10×5×〖10〗^(-4)=5×〖10〗^(-3) m^3/s
