Earth revolves around the sun because of gravitational force existing between the sun and the earth. Any two objects in the universe exert gravitational force on each other. The force is proportional to the masses of the objects and inversely proportional to the equared distance. Therefore, the gravitational force exerted by the earth on an object is never zero, and it acts anywhere in the universe.
