Placing a smooth walled cone, say for now, a 24" diameter intake x 96" in length that smoothly tapers to an 1-1/2" diameter outlet, (a drogue placed 48" deep at the centerline into an ocean current of 6ft/s). Fitted at discharge is a 1-1/4" D. ID x 2" coupling to which a 1-1/4" diameter x 20' PE hose is fastened. At the down current end of the slightly curved (8' R) 20' PE hose is fitted a 1-1/4" D. x 1/2" D. (w/ a 2"-1/2" extension) x 12" length eductor discharging into the upcurrent end of a 4" D. x 48" L pvc pipe. The discharge of the eductor is secured with its centerline inline with the centerline of the pvc pipe. The discharge end the eductor extends into the upstream end of the pipe 2". The current entering the open end of the pipe at the eductor flows at 1 ft/s
What I need to know is, what size cone inlet do I need to create 7 ft/s plus flow within the 4" D tube? And, any suggestions creating greater flow in the 4" tube.
Numbers and figures are an essential part of our world, necessary for almost everything we do every day. As important…
