how are bulbs and LED lights in youf house connected? why is this so?

They are connected in parallel. That is why:

• in a series circuit, if one light were to fail and go open circuit then the circuit would be broken and all the lights would turn off
• in a series circuit you would not be able to switch each light individually
• In a series circuit of multiple lights the brightness of each light is dependant on the total load. If you changed the wattage of a single light, it would affect the brightness of every light in the circuit.
• in a series circuit you could not add another light without effecting the brightness of every existing light in the circuit
