If 2trains 18km apart are traveling towards each other 1 with a velocity of 35m/s & the other moving at 25m/s, how long would it be before the trains pass by each other?
Answer
let x is the distance traveled by the train 1 and 18000 - x is the distance traveled by train 2 , before they pass each other ,( here distance is measured in meters)
time taken by the train 1 to travel x distance is = "{x \\over35 } \\ seconds"
time taken by the train 2 to travel 18000-x distance is = "{18000-x \\over25} \\ seconds"
as both train meet at same time , therefore traveled time will be same for both
"\\implies"
"{x \\over35 } ={18000-x \\over25}"
x = 10500 metres
therefore time duration = "{10500\\over35 }"
= "\\boxed{300 \\ seconds } \\ answer"
