If 2trains 18km apart are traveling towards each other 1 with a velocity of 35m/s & the other moving at 25m/s, how long would it be before the trains pass by each other?

let x is the distance traveled by the train 1 and 18000 - x is the distance traveled by train 2 , before they pass each other ,( here distance is measured in meters)

time taken by the train 1 to travel x distance is = ${x \over35 } \ seconds$

time taken by the train 2 to travel 18000-x distance is = ${18000-x \over25} \ seconds$

as both train meet at same time , therefore traveled time will be same for both

$\implies$

${x \over35 } ={18000-x \over25}$

x = 10500 metres

therefore time duration = ${10500\over35 }$

= $\boxed{300 \ seconds } \ answer$
