From the Newtons third equation of motion

v2=u2+2asv^2= u^2+ 2as

where v=v= final velocity

u=u= initial velocity

a=a= acceleration due to gravity( 10 m/s2^2)

ss = displacement

1002=22+2×9.8×s100^2= 2^2+ 2 \times 9.8 \times s

100004=19.6s10000 - 4= 19.6s

s=999619.6=510ms= \frac{9996}{19.6} = 510 m
