A mechanical work is done only if these two conditions are satisfied:-

1.There must be net displacement.

2.A force must be applied in such way that angle between force and displacement is never equal to 90°.

Since

"W=F\u2022d\u2022cos\\theta"

Where W is work done ,F is force and d is displacement.
