Question #105633
In a nuclear plant, the final mass of the products is 6.32×10^-27kg, while the initial mass of the reactant is 6.30×10^-27kg, the energy released in the process is (speed of light in vacuum 3.0×10^8m/s, 1eV = 1.6×10^-19J)

Energy released =Δmc2\Delta m c^2

Here Δm=6.32×10276.30×1027=0.02×1027kg=2×1029kg\Delta m =6.32\times10^{-27}-6.30\times10^{-27}=0.02\times10^{-27} kg =2\times10^{-29}kg

substituting the value of Δm\Delta m and c in the above formula we get

E=2×1029×(3×108)2=18×1013JE=2\times10^{-29}\times(3\times10^8)^2=18\times10^{-13} J
