Answer on Question #82948, Physics / Electromagnetism

**Question:**

If you hooked a battery up to a cylinder of water, what current would flow if it was sea water, and what current would flow if it was tap water?

**Solution:**

In case of sea water the current is produced mostly by Na+Na^{+} and ClCl^{-} ions, tap water – by H+H^{+} and OHOH^{-} ions. In the first case the ions concentration is rather high, respectively the current in sea water will be more than one in tap water.

**The answer:**

Please see above.
