6. a) Explain how the choice of intermediate frequency (IF) in radio communication is a
compromise.

Intermediate frequency is a compromise between different factors:

- Electronic circuits work ineffectively at high frequencies measured (like gigahertz);

- Filters in radio communication work effectively with narrow bandwidth. It provides better selectivity and sensitivity;

- Amplifiers work efficiently for one frequency. It is very hard to make an amplifier that will amplify broad spectrum of frequencies.
