all radio waves travel at 3 times 10 to the power of 8 m/s i air. radio scotland broadcasts an AM signal on 810kHz and an FM signal on 94.3 MHz.
Calculate the wavelength of each signal
state and explain which signal (AM or FM) is more likely to be received if you live in an area surrounded by hills

wavelength= speed of wave/frequency
AM wavelength= 300 000 000/810 000 = 370 m
FM
wavelength= 300 000 000/94 300 000= 3.2 m
AM is more likely to be received if you live in an area surrounded by hills. They have bigger wavelength, such waves can easier bypass obstacles on their way
