Question #222246

Which of the following statements are true for power factor correction?

1. The design of power transmission system is not very sensitive to the magnitude of the current in the lines as determined by the applied loads

2. The design of the power transmission system is very sensitive to the load resistance

True statement for Power factor

Option (4) is correct option

The design of any power transmission system is very sensitive to the magnitude of the current in the lines as determined by the applied loads.

We know that

"P=i^2R"

Increased current result in increased power loss by a square factor since ("P=i^2R" )in the transmission line due to the resistance of the lines.

Heavier current also require larger conductor increasing the amount of copper needed for the system
