The space behind a switchboard should be kept closed and locked at all times and should only be accessed for the purpose of inspection or repairs. Evaluate the cases in which the requirements regarding the clear space at the back of the switchboard is not applicable.

In this case, when the present situation calls for switchgear location in the ambient temperatures that are higher compared to the cited above, the respective full-load current rating will be minimized to a value needed in limiting maximum temperature that can be possibly attained within the service. This incidence will call for opening of the space behind switchboard, as the switchgear will call for more construction.
