I=I0et/τI= I_{0}e^{-t/\tau} and can be written as,


I0=et/τII_{0} = \frac{e^{-t/\tau}}{I}

where I0I_{0} is the initial current,

τ=LR\tau= \frac{L}{R} is the characteristic time constant.
