Question

When a pn junction is made the diffusion of electrons from n type to p type occurs. How the holes from p type to n type flow in this case ? I was told that the hole current is due to the transfer of electrons from one valance band to the other. But as the diffusion current electrons are in conduction band , are they responsible for hole current OR only the valance band electrons take part in the flow of hole current? Plz answer
