In a fully DC circuit, sometimes Capacitors are installed in parallel with the load, what effect does this have on the signal

This decreases the voltage pulses across the load because the capacitor charges and discharges during the rising or falling voltage periods. Without any capacitor added, the voltage across the resistive load will change instantaneously according to the DC signal, with a capacitor in parallel these voltage/current spikes become smoother.

This is widely used in rectifiers.
