Emotionalism is subject to some of the same criticisms. Certain circumstances may cause individuals respond mentally. However, it's not the same as suggesting that their phrases are merely an articulation of moods. When I tell if anything was cruel, I might become very upset. However, this does not imply that my terms are merely an affirmation of compassion. Even if I'm overcome with emotion, it's possible that the thing is truly immoral, and that's precisely what I'm referring to.
