The contemporary instructional strategy classification includes experimental learning, individual study, interactive instruction, indirect instruction, and direct instruction. Direct instruction is instructor-driven and is used for demonstrations, explicit teaching questioning, and lecture. The learner mainly drives indirect instruction with the teacher as the facilitator. Learners’ involvement includes forming a hypothesis, drawing inferences, investigating, and observing. On the other hand, experimental learning is activity-oriented and learner-focused. It emphasizes the learning process, not the product. Interactive instruction mainly involves sharing and discussion. It helps in developing rational arguments, the ability to organize thoughts, and develop social skills. Lastly, the independent study involves the learners studying independently under an instructor’s supervision and guidance.
