We live as a united nation but never forgetting our past. We never forget the history of pilgrims who walked for distance for their religious freedom, our gain of independence or our horrible moments regarding slavery. However, all these shaped our future and guide the coming generation to restrain from past mistakes made.

Our ancestors faced discrimination to prove to the country that they were valuable imparts in the country. The king used the "check" to show how ineffective the freedom guaranteed by the Emancipation Proclamation was. There was also diversity that characterized our struggle for independence. However, this was not a positive component for American struggle since it took several years for the country to w accustomed to this wide variety of mixed cultures and social groups. Most people were victimized because of their skin color and race. For black Americans, they had to fight against slavery and discrimination to be where they are today
