Why did many black people come to the mission schools?

Many black people went to mission schools because the big and better schools did not take them in. Also, they provided industrial employment opportunities to many of the black people.

Discrimination was part of the African society during the colonial times and therefore the black people who were considered as inferior had to go to mission schools as they were the only schools they could join.
