Merits

- Very quick and easy to determine (to compute mean we should find sum and divide it by number of values);

- Is an actual value of the data (the mean is an approximated value of the data).

Demerits

- Can be not very informative (the mean is value that we can expect, as mode is the most popular value).

- Can change dramatically from sample to sample (the mean from sample to sample are close to each other).
