There are 2 Types of Sampling Methods:

-Probability sampling- this allows the researchers to randomly collect data from the participant which creates a stable statistical reference and more substantial resources.

This type of sampling has an opportunity for each of the participants of the population to get selected as part of the study.

There are 4 types under this category:

  • Simple random sampling - every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected. Your sampling frame should include the whole population.
  • Systematic sampling - each individual that is included in the population is being listed with a particular number.
  • Stratified sampling is the process of splitting the whole population into a smaller group of subpopulations that may differ in an important way, it creates more precise conclusions.
  • Cluster sampling - making subgroups from the entire population, each of which should have similar characteristics. This method is good for dealing with a large and dispersed population.

-Non-probability sampling - is known as the most convenient way to collect data from the group of people that will participate. It allows the researcher a nonrandom way of collecting data based on the most available criteria in the group.

Because mices are selected at random, it is a probability sampling method and the type is Simple random sampling because every mice has an equal chance of being selected and sampling frame include the whole population.
