Question #185850

Determine the probability when a die is thrown 2 times such that there are no fours and no fives occur?

Expert's answer

When a die is thrown twice, there are 36 possible outcomes.. The events where 4 and 5 does not occur are;

{(1,1),(1,2),(1,3),(1,6),(2,1),(2,2),(2,3),(2,6),(3,1),(3,2),(3,3),(3,6),(6,1),(6,2),(6,3),(6,6)}

=1636=\frac{16}{36}

=49=\frac{4}{9}
