For P(X<10)P(X<10) then the highest discrete value possible would be 9. A discrete value of 9 would become P(8.5<Y<9.5)P(8.5<Y<9.5)  with the continuity correction.

However, you want the ones smaller than that as well, so you can remove the lower limit of 8.5 causing it to become: P(Y<9.5)P(Y<9.5)

Hence, the continuity correction probability of observing less than 10 successes answer is P(x<9.5)
